As we come up on two weeks since the tragic events of October 25th, Mainers continue to come together to support recovery efforts for the victims, their families, and the community. The Maine Community Foundation has created two Lewiston-Auburn Area Response Funds, one for Victims and Families and one for Broad Recovery Efforts & Organizations.
The community partners collaborating to organize these funds ensure that 100% of donations received will go to victims, families, and the organizations supporting the recovery process. There are several ways for you to donate:
By Check: Please mail your check to the Maine Community Foundation, 245 Main St., Ellsworth, ME 04605. You can specify on your check if you want your contribution to go to the ‘Victims & Families’ sub-fund, or to the ‘Broad Recovery Efforts & Organizations’ sub-fund. If you do not specify, your donation will be split 50/50 between them.
By Credit Card: www.MaineCF.org/Lewiston. Click on the ‘Give Now’ button. There, you will find a drop-down menu where you can choose the ‘Victims & Families’ sub-fund or the ‘Broad Recovery Efforts & Organizations’ sub-fund.
From a Maine Community Foundation donor advised fund: Online via access to your Fund Connection account or by calling your key relationship person at the Maine Community Foundation.
From a non-Maine Community Foundation donor advised fund custodian: This is our tax ID: 01-0391479. The sub-funds themselves do not have a separate tax ID, so the gift should be to the Maine Community Foundation. If there is a memo section or place to write a purpose, write “Lewiston-Auburn Area Response Fund: Victims & Families” or “Lewiston-Auburn Area Response Fund: Broad Recovery Efforts & Organizations”. If you do not specify which one you prefer, your donation will be split 50/50 between them.
Seeing Maine residents and communities come together in the wake of this tragedy reminds us that we are stronger as a whole than we are individually. We hope you will consider joining us in supporting and sharing this collaborative support effort!
